About Us

Aurlaea, the Poetics of Design, explores the interaction between nature and art in the colors and patterns that have shaped traditional handwork. Every great culture, from ancient to modern, represented the symbolic power of nature in their poetry, mythology, costume, ornament, architecture, and design. Aurlaea illustrates the idea that nature and art are woven together in a tapestry, which takes place on many levels, with many layers, folds, and interrelated components.

Aurlaea is published by Garan-Beadagio, which is family-run, and headquartered in historic Nevada City, California. The company employs seven full-time and eighteen part-time people. The ten shows that Garan-Beadagio has produced, include To Bead True Blue (five), Pasadena Bead and Design Show (three), Lalibella Blu (one), and The Tucson Bead Show (one), which have attracted a combined 100,000 attendees and 1,500 exhibitors.
